With regular maintenance, most ceramic filters will last for 12 months before they need to be replaced. Always read the manufacturer’s guide for specific timeframes and maintenance guides.
While many of our filters are ceramic only, other ceramic filters in our store contain an activated carbon element that removes bad tastes, smells and chemicals like chlorine.
These activated carbon elements can wear out after 6 months, depending on your water quality and should be replaced.
With regular usage, the ceramic filter cartridge will begin to clog up with grit and need to be cleaned off every month. In addition, you may notice the ceramic beginning to wear down. After a year’s worth of wear, the ceramic surface's filtration abilities will significantly diminish, and the cartridge will need to be replaced.
