How to Use Zip Boiling Water Taps in Your Home or Office

Traditionally, hot water comes from hot water tanks. As the water is used up, cold water replaces it in the tank. Reheating cold water takes time, which interrupts the hot water supply to residential and commercial buildings. Now, you can install an instantaneous hot water system which heats your water when you need it.

Installing a Zip hot water tap means you'll cut down on time spent waiting for water to boil for teas and coffees, and reduce your electricity consumption at the same time. You'll be lowering your carbon emissions, and saving on your utility bills.

At The Water People, we have an unbeatable range of Zip premium boiling water systems. Whether it's for a residential home or a commercial site, we can install and service hot water taps to suit all needs.

Now that you know why you need a hot water tap, find out more about how to:

  • Choose the right system
  • Install the system
  • Use your new tap
  • Keep Maintain it

What do you want from your Zip hot water tap?

If you just want hot water, you can get a single tap. But, if you want supreme convenience, you can get mixer taps. Zip's HydroTap was named kitchen product of the year in 2019 in the United States. It combines boiling water, filtered chilled drinking water, and sparkling water taps in one system.

Other water taps  you can get include:

  • Boiling and chilled
  • Boiling and ambient (filtered)
  • All-in-one with a separate cold and hot water mains tap

How many people will use the tap?

Is the water system going in the kitchen of an office with 50 to 100 people, or are you looking for instantaneous hot water at home for your family of 5? The demand for your tap will influence the type of water system you need, and its litre capacity.

We can install Zip boiling water taps in:

  • Offices
  • Cafes and restaurants
  • Aged care
  • Gym and sports clubs
  • Healthcare
  • Education

How to maintain your Zip hot water tap

Hot water taps need routine maintenance. As a general rule, water filters should be changed every six months, and the system will need to be checked once in a while. Instead of worrying about it yourself, you can utilise our water system repair service.

Our expert technicians can help repair all types of systems. We can get to your site within 24-48 hours and, in certain situations, we can offer same-day water filter services. We keep our fees low, so you can maintain your hot water tap and stay within budget.

Does it actually boil?

Hot water taps are often referred to as 'boiling' water taps. In most cases, like Zip's hot water HydroTap, the system heats the water to 98 degrees — which is 2 degrees shy of what is considered 'boiling' temperature. This different is negligible for most commercial and home applications.

In most cases, boiling water will burn tea leaves and change the way it tastes. Most herbal teas should be brewed below 90 degrees Celsius, while coffee should be brewed at 95 degrees.
